Terming the viral claim false, PIB Fact Check said, “Some posts on social media claim that RBI is planning to withdraw paper notes and replace them with plastic currency notes from June 30, 2026.” PIB has termed this claim as completely false and said that RBI has no such plan; Neither any step is being taken to withdraw paper notes nor any announcement has been made to replace them with plastic notes. PIB has appealed to the people to verify it on the official website of RBI before relying on such information.
