People often have to go to the bank for other purposes besides financial matters. Working people often want to complete their banking work on weekends i.e. Saturday. However, some people are often confused about whether banks will remain closed on Saturday or not. Banks are closed on every second and fourth Saturday, while banks remain open on the first, third and fifth Saturdays. So, before visiting the bank, make sure to check the list of holidays given here and plan your trip. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases a list of bank holidays every year, detailing on which dates and states banks will remain closed. So, before visiting the bank, do check the list given here and plan your bank visit accordingly.

Saturday Bank Holiday: Why are banks closed today?
Today, Saturday, November 8, 2025, is a holiday in Karnataka due to Kanakadasa Jayanti. Therefore, banks will remain closed there also. Banks will remain closed across the country today, because today is the second Saturday of November. Banks remain closed on second and fourth Saturdays. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made every second and fourth Saturday of the month a mandatory bank holiday. Banks will remain open on the remaining Saturdays of the month. Since November 8 is the first Saturday of the month, banks across the country will remain closed today.

Bank Holidays 2025: Remaining Bank Holidays in November
November 8 (Saturday): Banks across the country will remain closed due to the second Saturday. There will be an additional holiday in Karnataka on the occasion of Kanakadas Jayanti.
November 9 (Sunday): Banks across the country will remain closed due to weekly holiday.
November 11 (Wednesday): Banks will remain closed in some districts due to Bihar Assembly elections.
November 16 (Sunday): Banks across the country will remain closed due to weekly holiday.
November 22 (Saturday): Banks across the country will remain closed due to the fourth Saturday.
November 23 (Sunday): Banks across the country will remain closed due to weekly holiday.
November 23 (Sunday): Banks across the country will remain closed due to weekly holiday.
November 30 (Sunday): Banks across the country will remain closed due to weekly holiday.

Bank Holidays: Online Banking During Holidays
Even during holidays, you can enjoy uninterrupted online and mobile banking services, unless otherwise advised due to technical issues or other reasons. ATM services will be available if you need cash. Additionally, digital payment systems like apps and UPI will continue to function normally.

Bank Holidays: When are banks closed?
Apart from Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays, banks are also closed on national, regional and religious festivals. These holidays may vary from state to state, as state holiday calendars differ. So, if you are planning to visit the bank, it is important to check your state’s bank holiday list beforehand to avoid any inconvenience.
