High-profile shopkeepers are selling cheap liquor in expensive bottles. The Excise Department of Delhi Government has exposed this. A team of Excise Department had received information about a racket of spurious luxury liquor in a mall in Narela. Based on the information, everyone was stunned when the liquor shop was raided. Officers found a vehicle parked outside the store, which contained a bag of empty liquor bottles, some of which were being used to illegally fill liquor inside the store. The shop was partially open, and four employees were busy filling liquor into expensive bottles.

Liquor bottles, liquor filling equipment and vehicle have been confiscated. Samples of the filled bottles have been sent for chemical testing, and the shop has been sealed pending investigation. Officials said employees bought empty liquor bottles from scrap stores, pasted barcodes on them and sold them as genuine, expensive liquor. Police from Narela police station were called to the spot and a case was registered. Officials are currently investigating the matter.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first incident; Last month, excise officials had busted a similar racket in Punjab also. Two people were arrested for filling cheap liquor in empty bottles of expensive foreign liquor and selling it.
