December 2025 bank holiday calendar released: Banks will open on first Saturday, know on which days there will be holidays

Today is December 6, and many people are wondering whether banks will be open on Saturday? To be clear, banks are open on the first, third and fifth Saturday of every month. Banks are closed only on second and fourth Saturdays. This rule has been made by RBI and hence it is applicable in the entire country.

On which days in December banks were or will be closed?

1 December (Monday)

Banks were closed in Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland due to Statehood Day and Indigenous Faith Day.

3 December (Wednesday)

Holiday in Goa on the death anniversary of St. Francis Xavier.

7 December (Sunday)

Week holiday, banks will remain closed across the country.

Second week holidays:

12 December (Friday)

Banks closed in Meghalaya on martyrdom day of freedom fighter Pa Togan Nengminza Sangma.

December 13 – Second Saturday

Banking services closed across the country.

14 December – Sunday

18 December (Thursday)

Holiday in Meghalaya on the death anniversary of famous Khasi poet U Soso Tham.

19 December (Friday)

Banks closed in Goa on Goa Liberation Day.

20 December (Saturday)

Banks will remain closed in Sikkim due to Losung/Namsung festival.

21 December – Sunday

22 December (Monday)

The festival holiday in Sikkim will continue for the second consecutive day.

Banks will remain closed on these days during Christmas and year-end:

24 December (Wednesday)

Christmas Eve holiday in Nagaland, Meghalaya and Mizoram.

25 December (Thursday)

Banking operations will be completely closed across the country on Christmas.

26 December (Friday)

After Christmas, holidays will continue in these three states, that is, banks will remain closed for four consecutive days.

December 27 – Fourth Saturday

28 December – Sunday

30 December (Tuesday)

Banks closed in Meghalaya on death anniversary of U Kiang Nangbah. 31 December (Wednesday)

Banks are closed in Mizoram and Manipur due to New Year’s Eve and Imoinu Iratpa festival.
