US MPs and community leaders have described President Donald Trump’s decision to impose a $ 1,00,000 fee on H-1B visa applications as “uninterested” and “unfortunate”. He also feared that the move would have a “deep negative” effect on the IT industry. Congress member Raja Krishnamurthy said that Trump’s decision to impose a fee of $ 1,00,000 on H-1B visa is “a terrible effort to drive away the high skilled workers from the US who have long strengthened our workforce, promoted innovation and helped in establishing employment industries.”

America advised to upgrade its immigration system

Krishnamurthy said that many H-1B visa holders eventually become American citizens and start businesses that produce good salary in the US. He said, “As other countries compete to attract global talents, America should strengthen its workforce and upgrade its immigration system. America should not create obstacles that weaken our economy and security.”

Danger warning for US IT sector

Former President Joe Biden’s former advisor and immigration policy on the immigration policy, Ajay Bhutoria, a leader of the Asian-American community, warned that Trump’s new scheme to increase the H-1B visa fee may threaten the competitive advantage of the US IT sector. Bhutoria said, “The H-1B program, which currently has a fee of $ 2,000 to 5,000, attracts top talents from all over the world. This huge increase in fee is an unprecedented threat to this program, which will ruin small businesses and startups dependent on talented employees.”

Trump’s decision will remove skilled professionals from America.

Bhutoria said that this step would remove skilled professionals who strengthen silicon Valley and contribute billions of dollars to the US economy. He further stated that this step could be reversed, which may force talented employees to migrate to competitors like Canada or Europe. Khanderev Kand of Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies said that a $ 100,000 fee is a very unfortunate decision for H-1B visas, which will have a very negative impact on businesses, especially on software and IT areas.
