While 10 departure flights were canceled till 7 am today at Delhi Airport, the number of flights canceled till 7:30 am at Hyderabad Airport reached 70. This includes 35 arrival and 33 departure flights. According to aviation sources, Indigo may cancel about 8% of its flights today. Considering that IndiGo operates more than 2,200 flights daily, the number of cancellations today could be between 170 to 200. What is the real reason for flight delay?
The real reason for IndiGo’s current troubles is its lax attitude towards the new Flight Duty Time Limit (FDTL) policy. DGCA had informed all the airlines including IndiGo about this policy in January 2025. It also announced that the second phase of FDTL will be implemented from November 1. Despite this, IndiGo did not update its roster as per the new FDTL rules. Sources say that Indigo internally felt that it would get some exemption from the policy. However, this did not happen, and the result is now in front of everyone.
