The impact of the ongoing conflict between Israel, America and Iran is now being felt on the people of India too. Naira Energy has increased the prices of petrol and diesel across the country. Petrol prices have been increased by ₹5.30 per litre, while diesel prices have increased by ₹3 per litre. In fact, the war has led to blockages in the Strait of Hormuz and attacks that have impacted oil prices, disrupting the supply chain—an impact that is now being reflected in fuel prices in India as well. In terms of prices, petrol in Hyderabad has reached ₹107.46 per litre, the highest rate among major cities in the country. At the same time, petrol prices in Mumbai and Kolkata remain above the ₹ 100 per liter mark. Hyderabad also leads in terms of diesel prices, where the price is ₹95.70 per liter.

What did the government say?
For the last few weeks, rumors were continuously spreading about the shortage of petrol and diesel. Because of this, crowds started gathering at petrol pumps across the country. However, on Wednesday the government clarified that it has sufficient reserves of crude oil. The government stressed that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel at any petrol pump.

What did the oil companies say?
The special thing is that just a day before – on Wednesday – oil companies had issued a statement on the rumors spreading about fuel shortage. The companies confirmed that the country has sufficient reserves of fuel and the supply operations are going completely normal. BPCL, HPCL and IOCL together said that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel or LPG in the country.

Prices may increase further after assembly elections
Expressing his opinion on the issue, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi hit out at the central government and said that the administration was not properly prepared to deal with the energy crisis and failed to create adequate reserves. He also warned that after the upcoming assembly elections, there may be further increase in the prices of petrol and diesel.
