Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi left Islamabad on Saturday; He held talks with top leaders of Pakistan and shared a list of demands from Iran to permanently end the conflict with the US. This has increased uncertainty about the future of the second round of peace talks between Iran and America. Earlier reports said US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were visiting Pakistan on Saturday. However, a spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry said that no meeting was planned between Iran and the US; Rather, Iran’s side will be conveyed to Pakistani authorities.
Just as Araqchi was leaving Pakistan, US President Donald Trump announced that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would no longer visit Islamabad for talks with Iran. Trump posted on ‘Truth Social’: “I have canceled the trip of my representatives who were going to Islamabad to meet with the Iranians.”
