Big news has come for crores of customers of State Bank of India i.e. SBI, the country’s largest government bank. If you have to complete any important work related to the bank branch, it would be better to complete it today itself. In fact, between May 23 and May 28, 2026, many branches of SBI may remain closed for 6 consecutive days. The reasons for this are said to be weekend holidays, proposed strike of bank employees and holidays declared on Bakrid.

According to the information received, banking services may be seriously affected during this period. There will be holiday on Saturday and Sunday on 23rd and 24th May. After this, bank employees’ organizations have announced a two-day strike regarding their demands. At the same time, Reserve Bank of India is likely to declare bank holidays in many states on 27th and 28th May on the occasion of Bakrid. In such a situation, a situation may arise that the bank branch remains closed for several days continuously.

However, digital services like online banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATMs are expected to continue as normal. But check clearance, passbook update, cash deposit, demand draft and other branch based services may be affected. Experts say that customers should complete cash withdrawal, important transactions and document related work in advance, so that they do not face any problem later.

The strike being conducted by the bank unions is said to include many demands related to salary revision, recruitment of employees and working conditions. If this strike takes place as per schedule, there could be a widespread impact on banking services across the country.

SBI is the largest government bank in the country and crores of its customers depend on the bank branches every day. In such a situation, the news of continuous holidays and strikes has increased the concern of the customers. Especially businessmen, senior citizens and those who have to visit bank branches regularly may face more problems.

Banking experts have advised that customers should use digital banking more and keep necessary financial plans ready in advance. Also, please confirm the holidays from the bank’s official website and local branch, as the holiday situation may be different in different states. At present, it is advisable for SBI customers to complete any important banking work as soon as possible instead of postponing it, so that possible inconvenience can be avoided in the coming days.
