There is news of great relief for the passengers traveling by air. The country’s largest domestic airline IndiGo has launched a new and affordable fare ‘IndiGo Lite’ for passengers traveling with only cabin bags. Under this new category, passengers will have to pay a lower base fare than the normal ticket, while they will be able to carry a maximum hand bag of 7 kg.
The airline says this new fare has been designed for passengers who travel without checked-in baggage and want to fly with only essential luggage. It is based on the ‘pay for what you use’ model, meaning passengers will pay only for the facilities they require.
What will be available in ‘IndiGo Lite’?
‘IndiGo Lite’ is the new entry-level fare for the economy class. Under this, passengers:
Maximum cabin bag of 7 kg will be allowed. No free checked-in baggage will be included. Seats will be auto-assigned. Preferred seating, check-in baggage, meals and other services may be purchased for additional fees.
Where and when will the booking take place?
According to the airline, booking of ‘IndiGo Lite’ can be done only through IndiGo’s official website, mobile app and authorized channels. This facility will be applicable on domestic and international non-stop flights.
New trend is increasing in airline sector
Recently, Air India also introduced Basic Economy fare for budget travelers, which does not include some amenities like free meals. Now this step of IndiGo is also being considered in the same direction, due to which passengers will get the option to choose tickets at a lower price as per their need. Experts believe that this new fare category can prove to be especially beneficial for business travelers, weekend travelers and people traveling with only a backpack or small hand bag.
