The country’s largest domestic airline IndiGo has launched a new and affordable fare ‘IndiGo Lite’ for passengers traveling with less luggage. Under this new scheme, passengers traveling with cabin bags weighing only up to 7 kg will get the option to travel at a lower fare than the normal ticket.
The airline aims to provide affordable tickets to passengers who do not require checked-in baggage and travel with only hand luggage.
What is ‘IndiGo Lite’ feature?
‘IndiGo Lite’ is the company’s new entry-level economy class fare. It is specially designed for those travelers who travel with light luggage.
Under this plan:
Passengers will be able to carry only cabin bags up to 7 kg. Check-in baggage will not be included in this fare. In return, passengers will have to pay less base fare than the normal ticket.
Cheap air travel will get a boost
IndiGo believes that a large number of passengers travel with only cabin bags during short journeys. This new fare has been introduced so that such passengers do not have to pay check-in baggage fees. This will also help in keeping initial ticket prices low.
Air India has also started such option
Before IndiGo, Air India also started basic economy fare last month. It is for those passengers who want to travel at low cost and do not require extra facilities like free in-flight meals.
Passengers will get more options
Amid increasing competition in the aviation sector, airlines are now offering special fare classes to cater to passengers with different needs. ‘IndiGo Lite’ is also a step taken in this direction, through which passengers traveling with less luggage will get the option of air travel at a lower cost.
