The last date for filing Income Tax Return (ITR) is approaching. People are getting restless before the September 15 deadline. The reason is – portal problems and slow filing speed. So now the question is whether the government will increase the deadline? According to the Portal of the Income Tax Department, only 4.89 crore people have filed ITRs out of a total of 13.35 crore registered users. Of these, 4.63 crore returns have been verified and only 3.35 crore have been processed. That is, a large number of people are still left.
Many business and professional organizations of the country have appealed to CBDT to extend the deadline. He says that the portal is slowing down again and again, there is a problem in login and sometimes the system is closed automatically. Due to which they are facing many problems.
The Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) and CAAS said that this year ITR software has been delayed and the rules are becoming extremely difficult. At the same time, BCAS (Bombay Chartered Accountants Society) has also written a letter demanding to increase the time limit for ITR filing, tax audit and transfer pricing.
What are the complaints?
Errors in AIS, TIS and Form 26AS on the portal
Incorrect financial data
More paperwork due to new rules
Portal slow and busy time not logged in
The Tax Bar Association of the country said that if there is any mistake in the financial information, it would be difficult to file the right returns.
why worry?
Currently, the last date is 15 September and it applies only to those who do not require audit. But the slow pace of the filing and frequent technical disturbances have put taxpayers under stress. Now everyone’s eyes are on CBDT whether people will be given relief in the last time or the time limit will remain the same.
