The effect of heavy rains in Mumbai for the last few days is now clearly visible on air services. Due to heavy rains and bad weather, flight operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport have been severely affected. From Sunday midnight to Monday 5 pm, 17 domestic and international flights were cancelled, while 365 flights were delayed. According to the flight tracking platform, a total of 17 flights were canceled and five flights were diverted to airports in other cities due to bad weather. This includes both domestic and international flights. Bad weather caused problems in safe takeoff and landing.
**IndiGo and Akasa Air issued advisory**
In view of the heavy rains, IndiGo and Akasa Air have issued travel advisories for passengers. Both airlines said that apart from Mumbai, flights to and from Pune and Goa may also be affected. Passengers have been requested to check the status of their flights before going to the airport.
**Many international flights also affected**
The impact of bad weather was not limited to domestic flights only. Akasa Air canceled some flights to and from Kuwait and Doha as well as one flight to Kuwait. At the same time, an IndiGo flight bound for Raipur was diverted to Hyderabad. Flights on Delhi-Mumbai and Singapore-Mumbai routes were diverted to Ahmedabad, while an Air India flight coming from Kolkata to Mumbai had to be diverted to Vadodara.
**Hundreds of flights were delayed for hours**
Due to rain, the flight schedule at the airport was completely disrupted. Flights that took off were delayed by an average of 72 minutes and about 89 percent of flights were not on time. Similarly, incoming flights were delayed by an average of 46 minutes and 84 percent of flights did not arrive on time.
