Amid huge fluctuations in global crude oil prices, Indian Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have provided some relief today. On April 21, there was no major change in the prices of petrol and diesel in major cities of the country. Today’s latest rates in big cities
**Delhi (New Delhi):** Petrol prices stood steady at ₹94.77 per litre, while diesel stood at ₹87.67 per litre.
**Mumbai:** Petrol is available at ₹103.54 per liter, and diesel at ₹90.03 per liter.
**Kolkata:** Petrol price is ₹105.41 per litre, and diesel is ₹92.02 per litre.
**Chennai:** Petrol is being sold at ₹101.23 per litre, and diesel at ₹92.81 per litre.
**Bengaluru (Bangalore):** Petrol is priced at ₹102.92 per litre, and diesel at ₹90.99 per litre.
**Noida:** Petrol is at ₹95.12 per litre, and diesel at ₹88.29 per litre.
**Gurugram (Gurgaon):** Petrol is at ₹95.65 per litre, and diesel at ₹88.10 per litre.
Tension in global market, but India has ‘backup’
Due to the increasing tension between America and Iran in the Middle East, there was a sudden rise in the prices of crude oil. Brent crude had reached $95.89 per barrel, while WTI crude had reached $90.12 per barrel. However, the Defense Ministry has clarified that India has sufficient reserves. The country currently has so much stock of crude oil, petrol, diesel and ATF that it can last for more than 60 days. Additionally, there is also a backup reserve of 50 days for LNG and 40 days for LPG. To secure its supply chain, the government has also started buying oil from countries like the US, Australia and Latin America.
