Diwali is near. Preparations are going on everywhere. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the ₹24,000 crore PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana. Let us know what is PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana and the farmers of which districts will get its benefit. The main objective of PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana is to provide irrigation facilities to every farm, boost crop productivity, provide easy access to credit and storage facilities and encourage farmers to adopt sustainable farming practices. Under this scheme, 100 low productivity districts of the country will be comprehensively developed.
Which district will benefit?
Prime Minister Modi today unveiled the PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in Pusa. Under this scheme, a list of 100 aspirational districts has been prepared. These districts are lagging behind in terms of production. The income and crop productivity of farmers here is much lower than other districts. Under the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, the central government aims to bring these districts at par with the national average by 2030. The 100 aspirational districts across the country included for the benefit of this scheme will also get the benefits of more than 36 schemes of 11 ministries. It is expected that 1.7 crore farmers will benefit from Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana. 100 aspirational districts have been selected for this scheme on the basis of three criteria:
First – How much produce does a field produce?
Second – how many times a field is cultivated.
Third – how much access do farmers have to credit or investment.
Pulses self-reliance mission also launched
Prime Minister Modi also launched the Pulses Self-Reliance Mission. Prime Minister Modi said, “Pulses Self-Reliance Mission is not only a mission to increase pulses production, but also a campaign to empower our future generations.” For the last 11 years, the government has been continuously striving to empower farmers and increase investment in agriculture. Farmers will directly benefit from improved seeds, storage facilities and assured purchase of their produce.
fate changing plans
Launching two schemes simultaneously for farmers from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in Pusa, Delhi, Prime Minister Modi said that both these schemes will change the fortunes of India’s farmers. He said the government will spend more than ₹35,000 crore on these schemes.
