Keeping an eye on the situation of supply and demand of essential commodities like gas and petrol in the country, as well as the chemical sector, the Petroleum Ministry has given some important information. According to the ministry, continuous efforts are being made to ensure uninterrupted supply of LPG; As part of these efforts, more than 58 lakh domestic LPG cylinders were distributed in a single day. Meanwhile, commercial LPG availability has increased to about 70 percent, which is a clear relief to the market. The ministry said 6,700 tonnes of commercial LPG was sold in a single day—equivalent to about 3,50,000 cylinders—while about 1,06,000 5 kg cylinders were also sold. Additionally, up to 95 per cent of natural gas supply to fertilizer plants is being ensured, and daily production of LPG has reached 48,000 tonnes.
Medicine prices stable; LPG ship crosses the Strait of Hormuz
Meanwhile, there have been disruptions in global supply chains in the chemical and fertilizer sectors, impacting the availability of raw materials for some medicines; However, there has been no increase in the prices of these medicines. The latest shipping information shows that on April 5, a ship carrying LPG successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz, raising hopes for a further improvement in supplies.
Advisory issued for safe return of Indian citizens – Ministry of External Affairs
The Ministry of External Affairs clarified that so far, there have been no talks between India and Iran regarding toll on the Strait of Hormuz. The ministry also said that India has been supplying energy related products to Bangladesh for many years and currently, about 7,500 Indian citizens are present in Iran. The ministry said that, given the prevailing environment of peace and ceasefire, Indian citizens can return to India in a safe environment via Armenia or Azerbaijan; However, the ministry declined to comment on Pakistan’s defense minister.
