There has been a lot of activity in the technology and immigration sectors recently regarding a possible increase of up to 30 percent in the salaries of H-1B visa holders in America. According to media reports and industry discussions, US companies are considering making major changes in the salary structure of foreign skilled workers, especially Indian professionals, especially in the tech sector. Although this has not yet been officially confirmed by any government agency, this discussion is being considered an important sign for the global IT industry.

Impact of increasing competition in tech companies

Experts believe that there is a severe shortage of skilled talent in America due to the rapidly increasing demand in areas like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing and Cyber Security. To overcome this shortage, companies can work on the strategy of increasing salaries to attract and retain H-1B visa holders.

According to some reports, big tech giants like Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Meta are already focusing on better packages and retention policies for their foreign employees. In such a situation, if salary increase up to 30% is implemented, then this step can prove to be a big economic benefit for Indian IT professionals working in America.

Possible impact on India’s IT sector

Although this news can be considered beneficial for Indian professionals on a personal level, it can also have a negative impact on India’s IT sector. Experts believe that if salaries and facilities in the US become more attractive, the migration of skilled engineers and IT experts from India may accelerate.

This may create challenges like talent shortage in India, delay in project delivery and increase in costs for companies. It is expected to have a greater impact especially on startups and mid-level IT companies.

Old problem of brain drain again in discussion

India is already facing the problem of “brain drain” i.e. talent going abroad. Now if wages for H-1B visa holders in the US improve further, this trend may accelerate further. However, some experts also believe that this will put pressure on companies in India to improve salaries and facilities, which can create a balance in the long run.
