CBI has taken major action in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case. Acting in this case, the investigating agency has arrested the owner of a coaching institute. CBI has arrested the main accused Professor Shivraj Motegaonkar. He is the owner and administrator of RCC Coaching Institute based in Latur. This institute provides coaching to students preparing for NEET-UG exam and has nine branches, of which the main branch is located in Latur. He was introduced to NTA Chemistry lecturer P.V. Considered a close associate of Kulkarni. During searches conducted at his institute and residence, a question paper of Chemistry was found. This paper had questions similar to those asked in the NEET exam held on May 3. So far, 10 people have been arrested in connection with this case. In the last 24 hours, CBI has conducted search operations at five different places in different areas. Many objectionable documents, laptops and mobile phones have been seized during this operation. A thorough investigation of the seized items is currently underway.
**CBI registered the case on May 12**
A written complaint was filed by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, Government of India regarding the alleged paper leak of NEET-UG 2026 exam. Based on this complaint, CBI registered a case on May 12, 2026. Soon after the case was registered, investigation teams were formed. Subsequently, search operations were conducted at several locations across the country. During this operation, several suspects were detained and interrogated.
**10 people arrested so far**
So far, 10 accused have been arrested in this case from various places including Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune, Latur and Ahilyanagar. Earlier, nine accused were produced in court and sent to police custody; His interrogation is continuing. The tenth accused is currently being produced in the court.
The investigation by special teams is ongoing, and the investigation conducted so far has successfully identified the real source of the leak of Chemistry and Biology question papers being circulated ahead of the exam. Apart from this, middlemen involved in the recruitment of students have also been arrested who were paid lakhs of rupees to teach the questions expected to appear in the NEET UG-2026 exam and discuss them in special coaching classes.
