In the last few years, amidst the ups and downs brought by technology, the world has witnessed many major changes due to COVID. According to a report by The Financial Time, despite the current bad times in many countries around the world, there has been a boom in startups. This boom has also played a role in some degree of uncertainty and closure of startups. The requirements for formal sector jobs and entrepreneurship (self-employment) have changed drastically. Also, their focus is now on creativity, initiative to innovate and creative thinking. It is important to prepare managers for new things in the present times, so that they can move forward with confidence in the competitive and volatile working environment in the times to come.
However, one important thing in this opportunity is that if a person does not have the right mindset and skills, then entrepreneurship can prove to be a difficult task. Promoting entrepreneurship among today’s youth has become a basic responsibility of educational institutions at this time. What do we understand by Entrepreneur? Perhaps, upon hearing this word in the minds of the people of the world, the image of a smart youngster dressed in a suit-boot, who is in a beautiful skyscraper, who has the art of talking brilliantly and who is the investor with his unique idea. ready to seduce you. But can we say that the farmer who uses his unique idea and new technology to increase the yield of crops is also no less than an entrepreneur? In fact, we are all confined around an image of entrepreneurship rather than the core idea of it.
Entrepreneurial spirit is truly a way of thinking, a mindset, an attitude that is more about being active in making changes than accepting what has changed. It is an approach that involves innovation, creative questions, identifying problems and using their knowledge to find permanent solutions to them. Entrepreneurship means dreaming big, being alert and agile to achieve it and finding new opportunities. It is the appetite to take measured risks, sometimes going ahead and sometimes failing. Active organizations showing entrepreneurial spirit are constantly on the lookout for inquisitive employees who have the courage and perseverance to realize their dreams while dreaming of the stars.
With about 60 percent of India’s population working, the country needs enthusiastic and innovative entrepreneurs. If the youth lack the necessary skills and will, then we will not be able to achieve anything more than this youth power. Unfortunately, the current education system is increasing the number of job seekers instead of job creators in the country. At IMS Ghaziabad, with a legacy of 32 years, our focus has always been to provide youth with the good skills they need for the 21st century, to enable them to tackle the daunting challenges of the current business environment. The institute has various facilities so that students can work on their unique ideas.
We have taken many new initiatives to promote innovation. The Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) is one of them. It has been started with the belief that Entrepreneurship can fully capitalize India’s inventive potential. It is with this belief that IMS Ghaziabad aims to help develop India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. This enables easy and effective communication with students, professionals, existing and prospective entrepreneurs, mentors, angel investors, venture capital firms and the corporate world.
For such dialogue, the help of different types of sessions, competitions, conferences etc. is taken. With the participation of students, faculty and experts, the mission of CIE, IMS Ghaziabad is to provide a platform to the youth to convert their ideas into successful businesses and to foster, sustain and practice the spirit of entrepreneurship. There is an incubation center to assist entrepreneurs in transforming their startups into comprehensive, profitable and sustainable businesses.
Corporate Development and Excellence Center (CDEC) is a flagship training and consulting vertical of IMS Ghaziabad. Its objective is to provide world class training and consulting services to the organization by providing conditional offers. Recently we have started ‘Peer to Peer Mentoring’ session. For this we have joined hands with a reputed institute of Delhi University. In these sessions, the students of IMS Ghaziabad will teach their fellow students. In this way, the creativity and learning skills of the students of both the institutes will be encouraged.
At IMS Ghaziabad, students get many opportunities to improve their skills in Business Development, Competitive Analysis and Sustainability. Regular guest lectures, seminars, panel discussions, workshops, surveys and research activities are conducted to provide students an opportunity to engage and interact with Entrepreneurs, Venture Capitalists and other experts from the corporate world. The process of developing creative products and services for the same purpose is in progress.
Large educational institutions must constantly strive to move away from the traditional memorization and rote learning methodology to foster innovative systems that promote independent thought, creativity and innovation. With the changes bringing about lifelong learning capabilities, IMS Ghaziabad is committed to creating new-age entrepreneurs and leaders. This commitment is for students who have the ability to dream and imagine some big dreams. Also, there is an ability to show empathy, gratitude, and humility.
