JEE Main 2026: The JEE Main April session examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) started from Thursday. In Jamshedpur, the first day’s examination was conducted in three examination centers of the city, in which more than 1 thousand candidates appeared. The examination was conducted in two shifts.

The first shift ran from 9 am to 12 noon, while the second shift was held from 3 pm to 6 pm. Candidates were allowed to enter the center for the examination two hours before the scheduled time.
During this, all the candidates were strictly examined and they were allowed entry only after matching the photo identity card. The gate of the center was closed half an hour before the commencement of the examination. Long queues of candidates were also seen outside the center during checking.
Parents were seen waiting for their children at the center bar. On the first day, examinations for BE-B.Tech courses were conducted. The entire examination was conducted in a malpractice-free and peaceful environment. According to NTA, the next phase of examination will be conducted on April 4, for which all necessary preparations have been completed.

Students who appeared for the first shift exam of JEE Main April session gave mixed reactions regarding the paper. Prashant Kumar said that overall the question paper was of average level, although integer type questions of Maths were a bit tricky.
Whereas Riya Sharma said that easy papers cannot be expected in an examination like JEE. He told that like every time, this time also Physics and Maths confused the students, but in Physics questions were asked from almost all the topics. According to Kartikeya Tiwari, this time the Maths questions were more difficult than the last session.

The examinations for the second session of JEE Main 2026 will be held from April to April 8 by the National Testing Agency. The exam for Paper-1 for Engineering (BE/B.Tech) will be held on April 4, 5, 6 and 8, while Paper-2 for Architecture and Planning (B.Arch/B.Planning) will be conducted on April 7. The examination will be held daily in two shifts from 9 to 12 in the morning and 3 to 6 in the afternoon.
