Jharkhand Raksha Shakti University (JRSU) is now going to be seen in a new and modern form. A comprehensive academic and administrative restructuring of the University has been carried out in line with the New Education Policy (NEP-2020). Under this major change, while on one hand future technical courses related to defense and security are being started, on the other hand, 130 new posts have also been created to strengthen the structure of the university. According to the university administration, the main objective of this restructuring is to provide job-oriented education to the students and prepare them for the modern challenges of internal and external security of the country.
‘Digital revolution’ in defense and engineering sector
The university is now going beyond traditional subjects and starting many special courses in the field of technology and engineering. Now students will be able to pursue B.Tech and M.Tech degrees in subjects like Defense Technology, Computer Science (with Cyber Security, IoT and Blockchain), Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Cyber Forensics and Avionics. Diploma and PG Diploma courses in subjects like Weapon Engineering, Cyber Physical Systems and GIS-GPS have also been included to enhance technical skills.
Special emphasis on security, management and forensics
Security management and criminology have also been modernized in the changed syllabus. BBA and MBA have been started in Industrial Safety, Fire Technology and Disaster Management. Besides, serious subjects like defense policy and strategic studies have also been made a part of MILEBS. Apart from B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Forensic Science, PG Diploma in ‘Crime Scene Investigation’ has been started, which will be very helpful for the youth making career in police and investigation agencies.
Huge increase in the number of teachers and staff
There has been a major expansion in the number of posts to streamline the academic and administrative functioning of the University. A total of 130 new posts have been created, while 9 old and irrelevant posts have been abolished. The number of teachers has been increased from 28 to 82. In this, the number of professors has been increased from 4 to 10, the number of associate professors has been increased from 8 to 20 and the number of assistant professors has been increased from 16 to 52. Non-academic category posts have been increased from 18 to 94. 75 new posts have been added in Lab, Library, Accounts and Sports cadre. Apart from this, the number of MTS employees has also been increased from 26 to 48.
