Thomas (AD Thomas), who has made a dent in the stronghold of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the sea of politics by fighting the waves. In the Kerala Assembly elections, he defeated sitting CPI(M) MLA P.P. Defeated Chittaranjan by 21,015 votes. This victory of Thomas is not just an election victory, but the result of a tough struggle. This seat was with CPI(M) since 2011.

Let us tell you that, during the ‘Nav Kerala Yatra’ of CM Pinarayi Vijayan in the year 2024, Thomas had shown a black flag to the bus carrying state cabinet ministers in protest against the government. During that time he was allegedly fatally attacked by the security staff. After this, the pictures of Thomas’s blood soaked face which appeared in the media shocked the entire state. The Congress portrayed this incident as “the Vijayan regime’s blatant intolerance towards opposition”, which became a major reason for their victory today.
Worked at petrol pump, taught tuition to children
Thomas’s life has been very ordinary. According to Thomas, the struggles faced by his father Dominic Jackson and mother Akkamma to raise their three sons greatly influenced him. At the age of 17, he started fishing in the sea. He also financed his education by giving tuition to school children and working at a petrol pump. Till recently, Thomas could be seen going out fishing early in the morning with his father and younger brother. Along with his work and politics, he also continued his studies and earned a degree in history.
Congress returns to power in Kerala after 10 years
It is noteworthy that, according to the results of Kerala’s 140-member assembly elections declared on Monday, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala has made a strong return to power after 10 years by winning 102 seats with more than two-thirds majority. BJP has won 3 seats for the first time in the state assembly elections. Congress has got 63 seats while its alliance partner Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has got 22 seats, Kerala Congress has got 7 seats and Revolutionary Socialist Party has got 3 seats. Kerala Congress Jacob, Revolutionary Marxist Party of India and Communist Marxist Party Kerala State Committee have got one seat each. Four independent candidates affiliated with UDF have also been successful in winning.
Pinarayi Vijayan was successful in winning the election
On the other hand, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has suffered a crushing defeat. CPI(M) could get only 26 seats, while its alliance partner Communist Party of India had to be content with only 8 seats. Rashtriya Janata Dal has got one seat. Chief Minister P Vijayan has been successful in winning the elections, but many of his cabinet have faced defeat.
