Among the 19 MPs who broke the party with two-thirds of the MPs in the Lok Sabha under the leadership of Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, none of them was so aggressive towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mahua Moitra and Sayoni Ghosh have been in the news in the House for their sharp and sarcastic speeches attacking the government. One such video of famous Bengali film actress turned TMC leader and youth president Sayoni Ghosh is going viral, in which during the election campaign she is saying about the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – ‘Your work is done, people should go to hell.’ Sayoni Ghosh says in this old viral video – ‘She speaks the same thing, doesn’t she? Promise that you will not leave me, wherever you are, I am also there. This is what it says, isn’t it? And what do you people say after the elections? You people speak. What happened to your promise, that oath, that intention. Everyone is done. Finish, OK, Tata, bye-bye, Khallas. All this rhetorical politics will not work. Ritabrata accused Abhishek of forging the signatures of the MLAs in this letter, after which he was expelled from the party. Now CID investigation into Ritabrata’s allegations is going on. Abhishek has also been interrogated in that case. Hearing has started on the party’s case filed in the High Court against making Ritabrata the Leader of Opposition, but the court has refused to stay the Speaker’s decision.

After the assembly, the fire of rebellion gradually spread to the parliamentary wing of the party. In Delhi, 19 MPs under the leadership of Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar have sent a letter to the Speaker demanding status as a separate group. Dastidar claims that 20 out of 28 Lok Sabha MPs are with him. Apart from Sayoni Ghosh, these rebels also include MPs like Shatabdi Roy and Yusuf Pathan. Kalyan Banerjee is also angry over his removal from the court case and is telling Mamata Banerjee that Abhishek’s misbehavior is becoming unbearable. Mamta should either keep Abhishek with her or keep those people with her. Currently, 8 MPs are seen with Mamata, which includes Mahua Moitra, Shatrughan Sinha and Kirti Azad.

TMC’s split in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will help the Narendra Modi government move towards a two-third majority in both the houses.
