Recently a film has been screening Putul. A lovely girl, around whom parents have the character of broken relationships. The film has been in discussion since its screening at the Jagran Film Festival 2025. There will be many stories of the broken family, but this story is special because it was told from the perspective of a seven -year -old girl. Vivek Mishra from the film’s director, Radhe Shyam Pipalwa spoke in detail the idea of the film and the story behind its production. Here are parts:
How did Putul’s idea come?
We did not even hear the name of the divorce in our childhood, our family or surrounding society. But today in our society, the broken families will see you everywhere. The rate of divorce which used to be three to five percent until a few years ago, today has increased to fifteen to twenty percent. So I think this is a very sensitive issue, which is not openly talked about, which should be done. Especially what effect it has on young children of that family, it should also be seen from this perspective. I wanted my story to tell myself, which would discuss this subject from this perspective. After all, there should be a debate on why this is happening.
What is the reason behind you?
Earlier, its fault was put on mismatched weddings, lack of education or economic reasons. But today the divorce is also happening in families where people are educated, financially rich, they are also married on their own will. Then a big reason for this is seen, it is today the structure of society and family is broken. You cannot build a life alone as a family and child. Children raising, raising them with the right values is not a matter of control of any one person. Today, the generation who is getting married and living home is not with the experience and guidance of their elders. Today there are no grandparents, grandparents in the houses. Families of experience, sacrifice and teaching cannot run, you cannot take responsibility of children by doing your work. Settlement of home is not just a matter of having a room and two people are living in it. This is much more than this. This is a way to live life, which is somewhere today, its education is somewhere missing. I think, everyone should be taught about co-life, co-assistance with respect.
What challenges come out in making a film on such a subject?
The biggest challenge is that the producer is not easily supported for such subjects. It is a risky task to make a film with social messages during sex, violance, romance and thrill time. But in this case, I was lucky that I am my team, my producer Sharad, so many senior D.O.P. Sunil Patel and my star cast got full support. Today, many of my seniors, who were my mentors, when they saw the film, said that in today’s time, eight out of ten people, despite wanting to make a film on such a subject, but you made it, this is a big thing. And now the way the audience is getting support, it is strengthening that even today people want to see good and sensible content.
What else are there plans ahead?
In the changing times, the situation of women changing in society and still the same old attitude towards her makes me a lot of trouble, there is a story on this, I am working on the woman’s struggle and self -respect of female power, working on it. At the same time, I am working on a topic like increasing depression among the youth in the society and the suicide due to it, which talks about the relationship with our mind and our nature. If we will not be able to make the right relationship with our mind and nature and environment, then we will neither be safe nor this earth. Apart from these, the issue of bunker is also in front on the issue related to national security, neighboring country’s conspiracies. See what comes first.
