Ahmedabad, June 25 (IANS). On the occasion of the 64th birthday of Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani, Adani Foundation collected a record 52,306 units of blood as part of a nationwide blood donation drive. The campaign was conducted in more than 754 cities, towns and villages spread across 21 states, 5 union territories and 4 international locations, surpassing the figure of 28,090 units of blood collected last year. This information was given by the Foundation on Thursday.
This blood donation campaign organized on Wednesday was organized in collaboration with more than 764 blood banks, which included Red Cross centres, government hospitals and trust-run blood banks. Thousands of blood donors and volunteers participated enthusiastically in this campaign.
More than 6,000 volunteers from various departments of Adani Group contributed to make the campaign a success. These included doctors, paramedical staff, data operators and administrative staff, who ensured the smooth functioning of the campaign.
Led by the Adani Healthcare team, this initiative is inspired by Gautam Adani’s philosophy of “Service is Sadhana”, which views social service as the greatest responsibility and contribution.
Around 23,538 liters of blood was collected during this campaign, which is expected to benefit more than 1,56,918 patients. This blood can provide vital blood components like whole blood, packed cell volume, platelets, plasma, fresh frozen plasma, cryoprecipitate and albumin.
These blood components play an important role in emergency medical services, surgery, cancer treatment, maternal health services and treatment of acute and chronic diseases.
Adani Foundation Chairperson Dr. Preeti Adani said that this campaign is a symbol of Gautam Adani’s spirit of service and the Adani family, volunteers and medical experts have played an important role in making it successful.
Dr. Preeti Adani posted on social media platform X and expressed her gratitude to all the people who contributed to the campaign. He said that this initiative of blood donors will provide new hope and support to thousands of patients and their families.
This initiative, which started with the collection of only 1,300 units of blood in 2011, has today become an annual tradition. This tradition of celebrating Gautam Adani’s birthday through social service has over time made its place among the largest voluntary blood donation campaigns in the country.
Adani Foundation said that this campaign reflects its broader commitment towards inclusive and sustainable development. It also proves that small service work done collectively can have a big positive impact on the society.
