Amethi, December 18 (IANS). Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government is continuously taking big steps to strengthen health services. The Autonomous State Medical College located in Tiloi tehsil of Amethi is an important achievement in this direction. The construction work of this college, which is being done at a cost of about Rs 300 crore, is almost complete.
At present, services are being operated in a 200-bed hospital affiliated to the college, while a new 300-bed hospital and a 50-bed critical care block will be handed over by January 31, 2026.
With this, the total number of beds will increase to 550, which will give a big boost to the health facilities in the area. Also, the construction of Nursing College is also expected to be completed by this date. This initiative of Yogi government is proving to be a boon for the people of Amethi and surrounding districts. The long standing dream of the area residents of a medical college is now coming true and by 2026 this institute will be fully established as a modern medical center with 500 plus beds.
Educational activities are also increasing rapidly in the State Autonomous Medical College. 100 seats are sanctioned in MBBS course. 11 diploma courses are being run in the paramedical field, in which there are a total of 230 seats. These include important courses like Anesthesia and Critical Care Technician, Blood Transfusion, Emergency and Trauma Care, Lab Technician, Operation Theater Technician, X-ray Technician.
Preparations are on to start 60 seats in B.Sc Nursing course from the upcoming session 2026-27. At the postgraduate level, DNB courses include Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Pediatrics, Diploma in Anesthesia and Degree courses in Medicine. Inspection of some other courses has been completed and results are awaited.
OPD and indoor services are running regularly in the hospital attached to the college. More than 1000 patients are being treated daily in many departments including medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, ENT, dermatology. Emergency services are currently running on 10 beds, which will increase to 30 beds when the new hospital becomes operational. The hospital has 7 major and 5 minor operation theatres, 20 bedded ICU and NICU facilities. 24×7 diagnostic services like CT scan, X-ray, ultrasound, pathology lab, blood storage, pharmacy, echocardiography and ECG are also available to the patients.
Medical College Principal Dr. Reena Sharma said that as per the intention of the government, not only the schemes are being implemented but health services are also being increased. The executing agency Public Works Department is getting the work done. Hopefully we will expand the medical facilities with new rays in the new year.
Umesh Chandra, Executive Engineer of Public Works Department CD II, said that the Medical College building has now become G Plus Six. Now only finishing work is going on. Apart from this, the work of Director’s Room, Nursing, Hostel etc. is also going on in the college, which is being done by CIDCO. Overall the project is worth around Rs 300 crore.
