New Delhi, July 18 (IANS). BRICS Health Ministers Meeting 2026 is going to be organized in Chandigarh. In this meeting, health ministers and senior leaders of BRICS member countries will together increase cooperation, promote innovation and together find solutions to the health challenges of the future.

According to the information shared by the ministry, the meeting will be organized in Chandigarh from 21 to 24 July 2026.
Earlier, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had hosted the first meeting of the BRICS Health Working Group 2026 on 15 April 2026 in the national capital New Delhi. Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India chaired the first Health Working Group (HWG) meeting organized under the BRICS Health Working Group 2026 in New Delhi.
The meeting brought together senior health officials, technical experts and representatives from BRICS member countries Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, UAE and Indonesia to discuss priority areas of cooperation in public health.
India, as Chair of BRICS in 2026, is guided by the overarching theme of ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Stability’, reflecting the people-centric and humanity-first vision expressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 2025 Rio Summit. The theme reflects India’s commitment to strengthening a responsive, inclusive and future-ready cooperative architecture.
Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava welcomed all BRICS member countries and underlined the importance of the Health Working Group as a key forum to advance cooperation in public health.
He said that in recent years, the BRICS Health Working Group meetings have paved the way for cooperation to tackle serious health challenges, including infectious and non-infectious diseases, strengthen health systems and improve access to affordable medicines. These efforts have strengthened cooperation in pandemic preparedness, health technology innovation, and promoting universal health coverage.
Highlighting India’s priorities under its 2026 chairmanship, he said the Health Working Group aims to promote inclusive, sustainable and evidence-based health cooperation, while also recognizing the diverse health systems and socio-economic contexts of the BRICS countries. He stressed the importance of leveraging adaptability, mutual learning and collective expertise to design comprehensive and effective health interventions.
