According to health experts, Pitta Dosha increases in summer, hence it is very important to cool the body from inside and maintain balance. According to Ayurveda, one can remain healthy and refreshed both physically and mentally by adopting some easy measures during the summer season.
Ayurveda believes that real health benefits will come only by keeping both body and mind cool and balanced during the summer season. By including these Ayurvedic tips in your daily routine, you can easily cope with the heat without any medicine.
Drink cooling beverages: Natural beverages like cucumber, bel sherbet, coconut water and buttermilk, sattu cool the body from within in summer. They not only quench thirst but also keep the body temperature balanced.
Avoid strong afternoon sunlight: Avoid going out between 12 noon and 3 pm. If you have to go, cover your head with a cloth or umbrella and keep a water bottle with you.
Avoid heavy or fried food: In summer, oily, spicy, fried and overly sweet food increases Pitta Dosha. Take only light, wholesome and fresh food.
Use rose water and sandalwood: Rose water cools the eyes and skin. Sandalwood paste provides relief from sweat, irritation and rashes.
Wake up early in the morning and do light exercise: Get up before sunrise and do yoga, pranayam or a light walk. Due to this the body remains energetic throughout the day.
Keep lunch and dinner light: Avoid heavy meals during lunch and night. Take fruits, salad, curd and light cereals so that digestion remains easy.
