New Delhi, April 1 (IANS). During the summer season, complaints of digestive problems, fatigue, weakness and weight gain become common. According to Ayurveda, consumption of Drumstick (Moringa) proves to be very beneficial for health. Drumstick is also called a ‘miraculous boon’ because its leaves, fruits and flowers are all full of medicinal properties.
National Health Mission states that Vitamin A, B, C, carotene, iron, zinc, potassium, magnesium and fiber are found in abundance in drumstick. In summer, it cools the body from within, strengthens the digestive system and increases immunity.
Consuming drumstick in summer provides not just one or two but many benefits. The fiber present in drumstick keeps the stomach clean, provides relief from problems like constipation, gas and indigestion. Drumstick helps in curing the digestion which gets disturbed due to heavy food. It is also helpful in weight control. Drumstick accelerates metabolism, due to which food is digested quickly and excess fat does not accumulate in the body. Being full of fiber, it controls appetite and curbs the habit of eating frequently.
In summer, water and harmful substances accumulate in the body. Drumstick naturally detoxifies, reduces inflammation and makes the body light. Additionally, drumstick helps in maintaining stable blood sugar level. It is especially beneficial for those who are struggling with diabetes along with weight loss. It is common to feel tired in summer.
Calcium and Vitamin C are found in drumstick, which maintains energy in the body and is also helpful in removing weakness. Diseases spread rapidly in summer. Drumstick increases immunity due to being rich in antioxidants. In summer, you can prepare drumstick curry, leafy greens, soup or juice and consume it daily. The leaves can be dried, made into powder and mixed with water.
