Eat snacks before bedtime: Patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes will often feel that the sugar level starts rising rapidly at 2 in the night and at 8 in the morning. Due to the release of hormones, sugar starts increasing in the middle of the night and in the morning. Apart from this, many factors are responsible for increasing sugar at night. To control midnight sugar, eat a high-fibre, low-fat breakfast before you go to sleep. Whole-wheat crackers with cottage cheese or apples with peanut butter are the best foods. Make the room feel cool: Keep your room cool and quiet before sleeping for diabetic patients. Your room should be cool, cool, dark and comfortable. Set the thermostat between 60˚F (15.6˚C) and 67˚F (19.4˚C) so that you can sleep soundly. Dim the light in the room, put curtains in the room.
