New Delhi, October 31 (IANS). In today’s digital era, mobile phones, internet and social media have become an important part of our lives. It has become our habit to pick up the phone first thing in the morning and scroll through social media last thing before sleeping at night. Due to this, people have to face problems like stress, anxiety, lack of sleep and distraction. In such a situation, the trend of digital detox is increasing rapidly.
Digital detox means staying away from mobile phones, laptops, TV and social media completely for some time. Its purpose is to give the mind and body a break from screens so that a person can reconnect with themselves and the world around them.
This trend is becoming increasingly popular especially among the youth and working people, because this class spends the most time on phones, computers and online meetings throughout the day.
Staring at the screen for a long time increases problems like eye irritation, headache and fatigue. Continuous notifications and messages do not allow the mind to rest. The habit of comparing others on social media also increases stress and lack of self-confidence. Looking at mobile at night impairs the quality of sleep, which leads to feeling lethargic and irritable the next day.
Digital detox is an easy way to get relief from all these problems. When you step away from your phone and social media for a few hours or a few days, your mind becomes calmer, your focus remains better and communication with family and friends improves. This is very important for mental health.
If you also want to do a digital detox, then start with small steps. For example, keep the mobile on silent mode for a few hours a day. Keep your phone away while eating. Stop using mobile, TV or laptop at least one hour before sleeping. Take a complete break from social media one day a week. Spend time in nature, read books, do yoga or meditation.
In the digital age, it may not be possible to completely stay away from technology, but it can definitely be controlled.
