New Delhi, November 14 (IANS). If your belly fat is not decreasing even after sweating for hours every day in the gym and you feel weakness in your body, then Ashtanga Namaskar is just for you. It also provides relief from back and waist pain.
The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India gives detailed information about ‘Ashtanga Namaskar’, an important asana of Surya Namaskar. Its daily practice is not only effective in reducing belly fat, but also makes the entire body healthy and flexible along with strengthening the hands.
Ashtanga Namaskar is the sixth asana in the series of Surya Namaskar. In this, eight parts of the body (both hands, both knees, chest, chin and both toes) touch the ground together, hence it is called ‘Ashtanga Namaskar’. In this asana, the person lies on the stomach and rests the chest and chin on the ground, while the hips remain slightly above.
There are many benefits from its practice. It strengthens the hands, taking the body weight on the hands by bending the elbows strengthens the muscles of the wrists, arms and shoulders. In this asana, the stomach presses towards the ground, due to which the excess fat of the stomach and waist reduces. It also opens chest congestion, thereby increasing lung capacity and providing relief from shortness of breath. Light stretching of the spine provides relief from chronic waist and back pain, and also makes the body flexible.
Regular practice increases flexibility in the entire body. By doing Ashtanga Namaskar, one starts feeling the reduction in belly fat and agility in the body within a few weeks. However, experts advise taking many precautions during this period. Do not do this asana if you have severe pain in knees, wrists or waist. Pregnant women and people who have recently undergone abdominal surgery should avoid this asana. Do not stop breathing forcibly, breathe normally. In the beginning, practice only under the supervision of a yoga instructor, so that the posture remains correct.
