New Delhi, June 14 (IANS). Drinking tea as soon as you wake up in the morning is a part of many people’s daily routine. Many people cannot even imagine starting the day without tea. However, health experts believe that the habit of drinking tea on an empty stomach can give rise to many stomach related problems. In such a situation, these problems can be solved by adopting small measures.
The National Health Mission (NHM) has alerted people about this habit and given a simple but important advice that after waking up in the morning, first drink a glass of water and only then consume tea.
According to NHM, drinking tea on an empty stomach can increase the acid level in the stomach, due to which there is a possibility of acidity and gas problems. Apart from this, this habit can also cause burning sensation and discomfort in the stomach. Many people may have problems like feeling heavy in the morning, sour belching or feeling uneasiness in the stomach due to this reason.
Experts say that while sleeping overnight, the body remains without water for several hours. In such a situation, drinking water as soon as you wake up in the morning helps in hydrating the body. It activates the digestive system and prepares the stomach for the day’s meals. After this, the possibility of side effects of drinking tea also reduces to a great extent.
NHM said that consuming tea on an empty stomach can also affect the energy of the day. Many times the freshness you get from tea can turn into fatigue or lethargy after some time. On the contrary, if the person first drinks water or eats light nutritious food, the body gets better energy and the digestion process also remains smooth.
Health experts recommend that after waking up in the morning, drink a glass of normal or lukewarm water. After this, consume tea after having fruits, dry fruits or any light nutritious breakfast. This small habit can prove helpful in keeping the stomach healthy and preventing many common digestive problems.
