New Delhi, March 27 (IANS). It is natural to feel tired in a busy life, but it is often seen that many people finish the entire bottle of water in one go to overcome fatigue. Especially the youth find the habit of drinking all the water in one breath amusing. According to health experts, this habit is dangerous.
According to scientific research, our body absorbs water slowly. The function of the kidneys present in the body is to clean the blood and maintain the balance of essential elements. There are small filters inside the kidney, which are called nephrons. When we drink too much water suddenly, there is sudden extra pressure on the kidneys. Due to this pressure, the kidneys have to work harder to filter water, which can affect their efficiency in the long run.
Experts say that drinking too much water at one go can also disturb the electrolyte balance of the body. The balance of sodium and other minerals in the body is very important. When suddenly a lot of water reaches the body, this balance can get disturbed, causing problems like dizziness, weakness or vomiting. In some cases, this condition can also be serious, which is called water intoxication in medical language.
Apart from this, lack of water and bad habits like holding urine for a long time are also harmful for the body. When a person repeatedly stops urination, it increases the risk of bacteria growing in the urinary tract. It can gradually take the form of infection and if timely attention is not given, its effect can reach the kidneys.
It is normal to feel more thirsty during the summer season, but this does not mean that one should drink a lot of water at once. The body needs water continuously and in balanced quantities. When we drink water in small amounts, the body is able to use it better. This not only reduces pressure on the kidneys, but also keeps the body hydrated.
Health experts recommend that water should always be drunk while sitting comfortably and in sips. This gives the body time to absorb water and is able to perform all its important functions properly.
