According to Ayurveda, during this period such foods should be consumed that maintains energy and remove toxins from the body. Many types of nutritious and sattvic foods are eaten during Navratri fast, which are not only beneficial for health but also provide energy to the body and mind.

Singhara flour is the most popular option in fasting. It contains abundant calcium, iron and phosphorus, which is extremely beneficial for bones and digestion. This can make pudding, puri or cheela. Similarly, kuttu flour, also known as buckwhet, is rich in gluten-free and protein. This makes the stomach feel full for a long time and keeps the energy. Kuttu dumplings and roti are very much liked in the fast. Sago is also an important part of fasting. It is rich in carbohydrates, which gives energy immediately. The starch and calcium present in it make the body strong. Sago khichdi and kheer are considered best in fast.
