New Delhi, March 30 (IANS). Today’s lifestyle is such that it is very difficult to find the right time to eat. According to Ayurveda, food should be eaten according to the position of the Sun.
Our digestive fire works according to the brightness of the Sun and helps in digesting food, but today we do not eat in a natural way but according to our daily routine. We eat while sleeping and sleep while eating, but is this the right way? No, in Ayurveda, eating food late at night is considered the most harmful, because it gives disease and not nutrition.
We think that food can be eaten anytime, which will nourish the body, but this is a misconception. Even a little food eaten at night only makes the body sick. Eating at night causes heaviness in the stomach, lethargy, laziness, gas formation, not being able to sleep properly and not being able to clean the stomach properly in the morning. This is because at night our digestive fire is weak and the body is doing repair work. In such a situation, by eating food, the body leaves the repair work and devotes all its energy to digesting the food.
Poor digestion is not able to digest food properly at night and this is the reason why the stomach feels heavy in the morning and problems like gas and indigestion start occurring. Instead of digesting food, toxins start forming in the body and dirt starts accumulating in the intestines. Due to accumulation of toxins the body feels lethargic and weak and lacks energy throughout the day.
Now the question is when and how much to eat. If you want to keep your body and digestion healthy, then start eating according to the Sun. Try not to eat food after sunset. If you have to eat, have dinner by 7-8 pm. Along with this, the food should be light and less oily, so that the stomach does not have to work too hard to digest it. According to Ayurveda, do not lie down after eating food, take a walk. If there is difficulty in walking, then sit in Vajrasana for some time and keep the back straight. A healthy body starts with eating food at the right time.
