New Delhi, April 29 (IANS). Eating on a full stomach does not provide nutrition to health, rather it can sometimes cause harm. Eating too much especially at night is like poison for health. It becomes an enemy of the digestive system and can increase obesity, gas and sleep problems. In such a situation, health experts advise to take care of some special things.

National Health Mission (NHM) says that if we make slight changes in our daily eating habits, many health problems can be avoided. Eating food on time and in moderation not only controls weight but also keeps the entire body energetic and healthy.

To adopt a healthy lifestyle, special attention should be paid to food habits. For this, a light, balanced and easily digestible diet is the key to health. Food should always be taken on time and in the right quantity, so that digestion is good, sleep is good and health remains good.

NHM has especially warned regarding dinner. Eating too much at night i.e. overeating can be very harmful for health. Due to this, there is a risk of increasing obesity, problems of gas and indigestion and sleep is also affected. A heavy meal at night puts extra burden on the digestive system, due to which the body is not able to get proper rest.

According to experts, dinner should always be light and in limited quantity. Heavy, fried or spicy food should not be taken at all. Instead, it is better to choose light and digestible food like dal-roti, vegetables, salad, buttermilk or khichdi, porridge.

Along with the choice of food, eating habits are also important. Eat food slowly and chew it thoroughly. Eating in a hurry can increase digestive problems. The most important thing is to keep sufficient time gap between eating food and sleeping. Experts recommend that you should sleep at least 2 to 3 hours after dinner. Due to this, food gets digested well and there is no complaint of acidity or restlessness at night.
