Extreme heat wreaks havoc in Bihar's Supaul, health of 4 girl students deteriorated

Patna, July 4 (IANS). Four girl students of a government girls middle school in Bihar’s Nirmali fell ill after the morning assembly on Saturday, with one of them requiring hospitalisation.

According to the information, just before the end of the morning prayer meeting and the beginning of the classes, some girl students complained of dizziness, weakness and nervousness, which caused concern among the teachers and other students. The incident took place at Girls Middle School in Nirmali town.

The teachers immediately gave first aid to the affected girl students and took them to a ventilated place. When the condition of one student appeared to be serious, she was taken to a nearby nursing home for treatment. The remaining three girl students recovered after first aid, rest and taking water and fluids at the school.

Headmaster Badri Narayan Verma said that the school assembly was held as usual on Saturday morning. After the prayers, the girls returned to their class, where the teacher was taking attendance, when suddenly the health of four girls deteriorated. The school staff took immediate action and initiated emergency measures to help the girl students.

News of the incident spread quickly, sending distressed parents to both schools and nursing homes.

According to doctors, the student admitted in the hospital has responded well to the treatment and now his condition is stable and he is out of danger.

Based on preliminary investigation, doctors and the school administration suspect that the students may have fallen ill due to the extreme heat and humidity in the area. However, medical experts say that the real reason will be known only after further investigation and observation.

Following this incident, the school administration has directed teachers to remain vigilant about the health of students and ensure adequate availability of safe drinking water and other safety measures during the scorching heat.
