New Delhi, 11 September (IANS). The duodenal defects have been considered a serious digestive disorder in Ayurveda. This is mainly due to weakness of fire (digestive power) and disturbances in intestinal function. In modern language it is called Irritable Bowl Syndrome (IBS).
In Ayurveda, the work of ‘duodenum’ is to digest food and give energy to the body properly. When this organ does not function properly, the food remains uncomfortable and the person starts having problems like diarrhea, indigestion, and weakness repeatedly. If this condition persists for a long time, there can be a huge lack of nutrition in the body.
The main reason for the duodenal defect is to decrease the digestive fire (power), which is called Agnimandya in Ayurveda. The fire becomes weak when the person eats irregular food, eats too much fried or stale food, excessive anxiety or stress. Due to this, the digestion of food is not able to be done well and the half-hearted food starts rotting in the intestines, causing problems like gas, smelly diarrhea, and frequent bowling desire.
Frequent diarrhea in the symptoms of duodenal defects, hatred food in stool, heaviness in the stomach, loss of appetite, gas formation, weakness and fatigue are prominent. Some patients have a strong desire to defecate as soon as they eat food. The disease can arise from the imbalance of vata, bile and phlegm, all three defects, so its four different types are mentioned in Ayurveda, Vataja, Pitta, Kaphaz and Sannipataj duodis.
In Ayurveda, it is advisable to adopt special diet, medicines and lifestyle for the treatment of duodenal defects. Light food such as moong khichdi, vine syrup, buttermilk and cumin water are considered very beneficial. At the same time, the patient should avoid strong, spicy, fried and stale food.
Yoga and Pranayama are also considered beneficial in reducing duodenal defects. Pawanmuktasana, Vajrasana, Agnisar Kriya and Anulom-Vilom Pranayama strengthens the digestive system and also gives mental peace, which reduces digestive disorders.
Apart from this, drinking fennel and celery tea, ginger juice and honey, mint in buttermilk, isabgol and lukewarm milk and asafetida water are also very beneficial.
