Jammu, July 13 (IANS). A horrific road accident took place on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district on Monday. Officials said that 18 passengers of Amarnath Yatra have been injured in this road accident.
According to the information, two SRTC buses, a car and a private bus, included in the convoy going to Pahalgam, collided at Langar Point in Chanderkot, Ramban.
According to officials, the first SRTC bus (JK 01Y-1044) collided with the second SRTC bus (JK 01Y-1052). Due to the collision, another bus collided with a car (JK21K-8115) and then that car hit a private bus (JK02 CL-5499). 18 Amarnath pilgrims injured due to collision between 4 vehicles.
Police reached the spot after receiving information and immediately took all the 18 injured pilgrims to Ramban District Hospital for treatment. Officials said everyone suffered minor injuries and their condition is stable.
So far 10 injured have been identified. Harsh Rajput, 23, son of Kamlesh Rajput, resident of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Vishal Gupta, 18, son of Suresh Gupta, Pankaj Suvankar, 23, son of Heera Lal Shankar, Suhas Jeevan Movade, 29, son of Jeevan Movade of Yavatmal, Maharashtra, Bharat Bhushan, 45, son of Ratan of Ganganagar, Rajasthan, Vinod Kumar, 51, son of Shiv, have been injured. At the same time, Ratan of Sattasar of Bikaner, Rajasthan, Kiran, 48, wife of Vinod Bagla of Rajasthan, Seema Rani, 50, wife of Akshay Kumar of Punjab, Pawan Kumar, 67, son of Shiv Ratan of Rajasthan and Ganga Sinha, 41, son of Janta Singha of Rajasthan, have also been injured in the accident. The remaining 8 injured have not been identified yet.
After the accident, traffic on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was affected for some time. Police have taken cognizance of the matter and further investigation is underway.
Shri Amarnath Yatra, which started on July 3, will conclude after 57 days on August 28 with the festivals of Shravan Purnima and Rakshabandhan. Since the start of this year’s yatra, more than 2.45 lakh pilgrims have visited the sacred cave shrine located at an altitude of 3,880 meters above sea level in the Kashmir Himalayas.
