New Delhi, December 17 (IANS). If you suffer from frequent colds, skin becomes dry and lifeless, gums bleed or wounds heal late, then these can be signs of Vitamin C deficiency in your body. There are many fruits and foods including Amla, which can be consumed to overcome this deficiency.
Vitamin C is very important for strengthening immunity and skin health. Due to its deficiency, the immunity becomes weak, due to which infection occurs easily.
The main symptoms of Vitamin C deficiency include bleeding gums, delayed wound healing, weak immunity, frequent colds and dry, lifeless skin. This deficiency occurs gradually and early symptoms are often ignored. Its deficiency can also be caused by wrong diet, eating too much junk food, weak digestion, stress or irregular lifestyle.
Natural sources of Vitamin C include orange, lemon, kiwi, strawberry and especially amla. ‘Rasraj’ Amla is considered to be the best source of Vitamin C, which helps in increasing immunity and making the skin glowing.
Vitamin deficiency in Ayurveda is linked to metal decay and retardation of digestive fire. Experts say that these deficiencies can be avoided with a balanced diet and proper daily routine.
To overcome Vitamin C deficiency, health experts recommend eating fresh fruits and vegetables daily. Eating one Amla daily is enough. Additionally, guava, capsicum, broccoli, papaya and tomato are included.
These increase immunity and are helpful in keeping the skin healthy. Health experts advise to contact a doctor in case of severe symptoms related problems. If symptoms appear, get a blood test done and do not take supplements without advice.
Deficiency of other vitamins also has its own signs, like deficiency of Vitamin B12 can cause fatigue, tingling in hands and feet and weak memory, deficiency of Vitamin D can cause pain in bones and joints and falling ill frequently, deficiency of Vitamin A can cause poor vision at night and dry skin, while deficiency of Vitamin E can cause hair fall and muscle weakness.
