In such a situation, the Ministry of AYUSH is advising easy and effective asanas like Gomukhasana. This asana can be done daily by taking out some time. Gomukhasana gets its name from the position of the knees and legs that resemble the mouth of a cow. This asana especially works on the shoulders, back, neck and legs. In this the body gets a good stretch. Even beginners can learn easily.
The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India explains how to practice Gomukhasana. For this, first of all sit comfortably on the floor. Bend the left leg and place it near the right hip. Bend the right leg and place it over the left leg so that the knees come over each other. Now take the right hand from the back towards the waist and bring the left hand from above towards the waist. Try to hold the fingers of both hands together. Start by sitting straight for 30 seconds and gradually go up to 1-2 minutes. Keep breathing normal during this time. Then repeat on the other side by changing legs and arms.
Gomukhasana stretches and strengthens the body. It increases flexibility and improves body posture. Stiffness in shoulders, neck and back goes away. Cramps in legs reduce and legs become flexible. It is very effective in problems like frozen shoulder, neck pain and cervical spondylosis. The muscles of the back and biceps become stronger.
Not only this, the spine remains straight. Lungs get good exercise, which reduces respiratory diseases. Practicing this asana for 5-10 minutes daily brings strength and stability to the body. It can be done in the morning on an empty stomach or in the evening after having a light meal.
