Gandhinagar, March 13 (IANS). The Gujarat government has launched a 100-day statewide campaign to promote yoga ahead of the 12th International Yoga Day celebrated on June 21, which was launched with a program organized at the new residences of MLAs in Gandhinagar.

Ahead of International Yoga Day, Gujarat State Yoga Board has taken this initiative under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to create awareness about yoga and encourage its practice across the state. The campaign was formally inaugurated at an event in which Gujarat State Yoga Board Chairman Sheeshpal Rajput and several MLAs were present.

The launch marks the beginning of a 100-day countdown during which yoga activities will be organized across Gujarat. According to officials, the program will involve organizing yoga camps in district and taluka headquarters across the state over the next three months. These camps will focus on practicing the common yoga protocols that are followed during International Yoga Day events.

The board said that the objective of this initiative is to increase awareness about the benefits of yoga and encourage widespread public participation in it. He said that the objective of this program is to create awareness about Yoga among the citizens and create a physically and mentally healthy society through the practice of common yoga protocols. It further states that yoga should not only be seen as exercise but also as a lifestyle.

Officials said that yoga is not just an exercise but a way of life. The Board is committed to spread Yoga to the remotest villages of the state. Let us tell you that after the adoption of International Yoga Day by the United Nations following the proposal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this day is celebrated every year on 21st June. Since then the day is celebrated through public yoga sessions and awareness programs in countries across the world.

Officials said the 100-day campaign in Gujarat aims to increase participation in yoga activities ahead of the global event in June. The program has been organized under the theme ‘Ek Kadam Yogmay Vidhan Sabha Tarf’ which, according to the board, is an effort to encourage widespread adoption of yoga practices across the state. The Gujarat State Yoga Board said the campaign will continue with programs and training sessions in the districts and taluks in the coming weeks.
