New Delhi, June 15 (IANS). International Yoga Day 2026 (June 21) is now just six days away. This time the main theme of Yoga Day has been kept as ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’. The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, has advised the practice of Sarvangasana, called the “Queen of Asanas”, which provides many benefits.
According to the Ministry, due to today’s busy life, stress and wrong eating habits, many youth are facing the problem of graying of hair at an early age. By doing Sarvangasana regularly, this problem can be prevented to a great extent. This asana improves blood circulation by inverting the entire body upwards, which provides more oxygen and nutrition to the head and scalp. This strengthens the hair roots and slows down the process of premature greying.
Sarvangasana is also called shoulder standing posture. In this, the person lies on his back and raises both his legs and takes the weight of the entire body on his shoulders. If done correctly and under the supervision of a yoga expert, this asana proves beneficial in many health problems.
The practice of Sarvangasana has many benefits, it reduces premature graying of hair and other signs of ageing. Maintains hormone balance by activating the thyroid and other endocrine glands. Removes digestive problems like indigestion and constipation. Provides relief from hernia, piles and uterus related problems and also calms the mind by increasing energy and vigor in the body.
The Ministry of AYUSH says that yoga is not a medicine, but a lifestyle. Practicing Sarvangasana for just 10-15 minutes daily helps in staying healthy in the long run. People of all ages should include it in their daily routine.
