Ramban, July 15 (IANS). Keeping in mind the convenience and safety of the devotees during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir, the Health Department has made extensive medical arrangements in Ramban district. Medical camps, mini hospitals and 24-hour health services have been provided at many important places along the yatra route, including Chanderkot and Lambar in Banihal area. Thousands of devotees are taking advantage of free treatment, medicines and necessary testing facilities here.
A health department official said that so far more than 5000 patients have been treated in the mini hospital established in Lambar. A team of doctors and medical staff is deployed here round the clock. Free consultation, medicines, blood pressure and other necessary testing facilities are being provided to the passengers.
He said that not only Lambar, but also a large number of devotees have reached other medical centers including Chanderkot for treatment. The department endeavors to ensure that adequate doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and ambulances are available at every important stop on the yatra route, so that any emergency can be dealt with immediately. He said that helpline numbers and important information are also being displayed at all health centres.
Devotee Narayan Sapatta, who arrived on Amarnath Yatra from Khargone in Madhya Pradesh, praised the health services and said that he had stomach related problems during the yatra. On reaching the medical camp, the doctors immediately examined him, gave him medicines and treated him completely. He said that all the facilities are completely free and this is providing a lot of relief to the passengers.
Devotee Dheeraj, who came from Nagpur, Maharashtra, told that after Amarnath darshan, he was feeling very tired in the body. He got information about the free medical facility of the health department near the CRPF base camp. He said that on reaching the hospital, he got facilities like a private hospital. The behavior of the doctors and medical staff was also very good and treatment was provided without any charges.
Another devotee also praised the government’s arrangements and said that medical facilities are easily available on the yatra route. He said that if any passenger has any health related problem, the team of doctors immediately starts treatment and necessary medicines are also given free of cost. This gives the devotees a feeling of great confidence and security during the journey.
