New Delhi, July 1 (IANS). Health Minister JP Nadda on Wednesday chaired a review meeting of the TB Free India campaign and 100-day campaign with the Delhi government. He emphasized that significant efforts have been made under the TB Free India Campaign, but the remaining gap between efforts and results can be bridged only through public participation.

The Minister said that TB eradication cannot be achieved on the strength of health system alone and called for a mass movement with active participation of communities, public representatives and civil society.

The Health Minister emphasized that MPs, Assembly Members and Municipal Councilors should be regularly briefed by health officials about the burden of TB in their respective constituencies, the challenges being faced, the solutions being implemented and their specific role in expediting case detection, ensuring treatment adherence and mobilizing community support.

He said that public representatives are an important link between the government and the public, and their active participation can significantly strengthen the implementation of the campaign at the grassroots level.

Nadda stressed that implementation should be based on collaboration and not on working in isolation.

He directed that a senior government official be appointed in each ward to monitor the progress of the campaign.

Highlighting the role of technology in strengthening TB detection, the Union Minister said that support will be provided for more number of handheld X-ray machines integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve early diagnosis and identification of cases.

Nadda also chaired a high-level review meeting to assess preparedness for dengue prevention and control in Delhi ahead of the monsoon season.

The meeting focused on reviewing the changing epidemiological situation, assessing the preparedness of health institutions and civic agencies. The Health Minister was briefed about the dengue situation across the country and the preparedness measures taken across the country with special emphasis on Delhi National Capital Region.

A comprehensive action plan for prevention and control of dengue in Delhi was presented, highlighting key measures to strengthen disease surveillance, vector management, case identification, clinical management and public awareness.
