Ranchi: Amidst the continuously increasing scorching heat in Jharkhand, cases of heat stroke are also increasing rapidly. In view of the increasing cases and seriousness of the situation, the administration of Ranchi-based Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has come on alert mode. The hospital management has completed necessary preparations for the treatment of patients affected by heat stroke.
According to RIMS administration, patients suffering from heat stroke are being treated mainly in the Department of Medicine and Pediatrics. The treatment procedure is decided based on the condition, age and symptoms of the patient. At the same time, if there is a sudden increase in the number of patients, the hospital management can also arrange for separate dedicated beds.
The RIMS administration has appealed to the general public to follow the guidelines issued by the government and the health department and avoid going out unnecessarily in extreme heat and strong sunlight.
The hospital management has said that people need to take special caution during the heat wave. People have been advised to drink adequate amount of water, wear light and loose clothes and keep their head and body covered while going out of the house.
In particular, children, the elderly and those with pre-existing medical conditions need to be extra careful, as the risk of heat stroke is higher in these groups. Health experts say that serious conditions like heat stroke can be avoided by taking timely precautions and keeping the body hydrated.
