New Delhi, May 9 (IANS). The period from birth to one year is considered to be the most delicate and most important for the development of the child. During this period the child remains completely dependent on the care of the parents. Therefore, it is very important to take care of proper care, proper eating habits and proper daily routine.
First of all, if we talk about nutrition, mother’s milk is considered the best and complete diet for a newborn baby. Breastfeeding provides essential nutrients, immunity and protection to the child. Only mother’s milk should be given to the child for the first 6 months. There is no need to provide any outside food. If milk is decreasing due to any reason, it is important to consult a doctor.
As the baby grows, i.e. after 6 months, the needs of his body start increasing. At this time, solid food is gradually introduced. In the beginning, light and easily digestible food should be given, such as fruit juice, soup, or boiled and mashed vegetables. Gradually, porridge, khichdi and fresh home-made food can also be given to the child.
Teething also begins between 6 to 8 months and at this time the process of introducing solid food becomes easier. But new food should be given keeping in mind the child’s digestive capacity, so that he does not face any problem.
According to Ayurveda, milk and ghee have special importance in children’s food. Right amount of ghee is considered beneficial for the growth and energy of the child. Along with this, mild spices like turmeric, cumin and black pepper help in improving digestion.
A big mistake these days is that children are given junk food or packaged food too soon, which can be harmful for their health. Therefore, one should try to give only fresh and nutritious home-made food to the child.
The habit of drinking water should also be established gradually. After 6 months, lukewarm water can be given to the child. This improves digestion and also keeps the body clean.
Along with food, the child’s daily routine and environment are also very important. A child learns a lot by watching his parents, so the atmosphere at home should be calm, happy and full of love. Spending as much time as possible with the child, talking to him and giving him love is very important for his mental development.
Children should be given a chance to play and learn new things. This increases their ability to think and understand. But they should stay away from habits like tea, coffee or any kind of intoxication. Apart from this, one should never scold or hit the child, as it can have a bad effect on him.
