New Delhi, October 18 (IANS). As soon as the weather changes, some people first start experiencing problems like sore throat, runny nose, sneezing and body ache. These symptoms are of weak immune system. Those whose immunity is slightly lower than normal, even slight seasonal changes can make them sick.

From children to the elderly, people of all ages go through this problem. If the body’s immunity is strengthened from within, the chances of falling ill can be reduced to a great extent. According to the Ministry of AYUSH, yoga also plays an effective role in increasing immunity. When we do yoga regularly, oxygen and nutrition reach the internal organs of the body better.

Yoga not only strengthens the lungs but also improves digestion and blood circulation. All this directly affects our immunity.

Adho Mukha Svanasana: Adho Mukha Svanasana is a very effective yoga practice. When you bring the body into an inverted V shape, blood flow improves towards the head and chest. This posture helps in clearing the nose and lungs and improves the ability to breathe. This removes the phlegm accumulated in the throat and chest and provides relief from cold and cough.

Ustrasana: In Ustrasana, when you bend your body backwards and hold the ankles, the chest opens completely. This asana helps in expanding the lungs and strengthens the respiratory system. The discomfort that occurs while breathing cold air gradually starts reducing. This asana also makes the spine flexible and removes fatigue.

Matsyasana: In Matsyasana, the body comes in the shape of a fish and the chest area gets stretched. This stretch is helpful in expelling the mucus. When you breathe deeply in this asana, the lung capacity gradually increases and you get quick relief from cold and cough.

Halasana: The benefits of Halasana are many. When you take your legs behind the head, the nerves and muscles of the body are completely stretched. This asana also activates the digestive system, which directly helps in improving the immune system. Additionally, it also reduces fatigue and stress, which often increases with cold.

Shirshasana: In Shirshasana, when you stand on your head, the blood flow of the entire body is towards the head. Due to this, better oxygen reaches the brain, eyes, nose and ears. This asana provides relief from cold, cough and headache as well as activates the entire nervous system.
