New Delhi, November 8 (IANS). Due to carelessness regarding health, junk food, stress and habit of sitting, the digestive system often becomes weak and back pain increases. In such a situation, yoga can prove to be a natural remedy. One of them is Uttamandukasana.
According to the advice of the Ministry of AYUSH, doing Uttamandukasana daily keeps the body strong and the mind calm.
The word ‘Uttan’ means to pull upwards and ‘Manduk’ means frog. In the posture of Uttamandukasana, the body looks like a straight frog. In this asana, the head is held with the elbows so that the head does not go backwards and the body remains in a straight line.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, this asana is helpful in relieving back pain and cervical discomfort. Also, this asana is beneficial for the movement of abdominal organs and increases the efficiency of the lungs. Breathing becomes deeper and oxygen level improves.
With its regular practice the spine remains flexible. Besides, thighs, hips and ankles remain strong and stomach related problems also get relief. It improves blood circulation, which relieves fatigue.
The most important thing is that by doing this it reduces stress hormones, which provides relief from anxiety and depression. To do this, first of all you sit in Vajrasana posture and then bend both your hands at the elbows and take them behind your back.
Now hold the toes of the left foot with the right hand and hold the toes of the right foot with the left hand. After this, straighten your spine and look towards the front and then keep breathing normally. Stay in this position for 25 to 30 seconds, then slowly return to normal position.
You can get many benefits by doing this asana, but to do it, definitely take advice from an expert. Pregnant women, people who have had back surgery or have joint pain should consult a doctor for this.
